Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract ASL Paraprofessional / Instructional Assistant (Elementary 1:1) Soliant is partnering with a welcoming school district to hire an
  • ASL Paraprofessional / Instructional Assistant
  • for the 2026-2027 school year.
This school-based opportunity involves providing dedicated one-on-one support to an elementary student who is deaf or hard of hearing, helping them fully participate in academics, communication, and everyday classroom activities. This position is ideal for someone who enjoys working with young learners, is fluent in American Sign Language, and is committed to creating an inclusive educational environment.
  • ASL certification is not required.

  • 30 hours per week
  • Elementary school assignment
  • 1:1 student support
  • On-site position
  • 2026-2027 school year
  • $19-$25 per hour, depending on experience What You'll Do
  • Serve as the student's primary communication support throughout the school day using ASL
  • Promote meaningful communication between the student, classroom staff, and peers
  • Assist with lessons, classroom activities, and academic assignments
  • Reinforce IEP accommodations and instructional goals under the direction of the educational team
  • Support the student's independence during classroom routines, transitions, and social situations
  • Encourage engagement, confidence, and positive peer relationships
  • Collaborate with teachers and related service providers to ensure consistent student support
  • Maintain a positive, safe, and inclusive learning environment Qualifications
  • Proficiency in American Sign Language (ASL) required
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Experience working with children or adolescents preferred
  • School or special education experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with supporting students who are deaf or hard of hearing is preferred
  • Strong interpersonal, communication, and organizational skills
