Job Description

Once a part of Kenrick-Glennon Seminary's campus, the Cardinal Rigali Center in Shrewsbury, MO is today the headquarters and curia (governing body) for the Archdiocese of St. Louis. Job Summary The Classroom Aide supports the classroom teacher in providing a safe, nurturing, and faith-centered learning environment for students. The aide assists with classroom activities, student supervision, instructional support, and daily routines while helping promote the academic, social, emotional, and spiritual development of students. Job Responsibilities Support the student in accessing classroom instruction, assignments, and activities. Reinforce skills and provide prompting, modeling, clarification, and repetition as needed. Implement accommodations, modifications, and support strategies as directed by the teacher or Learning Consultant. Assist with transitions, organization, routines, and staying engaged in learning. Encourage independence by providing only the level of assistance needed and gradually reducing support when appropriate. Promote positive interactions and relationships with classmates. Support appropriate behavior, communication, problem-solving, and self-advocacy. Assist with personal care or daily living needs when necessary while maintaining the student's dignity and privacy. Support participation in specials, lunch, recess, Mass, assemblies, field trips, and other school activities. Communicate observations or concerns to the teacher or Learning Consultant and maintain student confidentiality. Work collaboratively with teachers and other members of the student's educational team. Model patience, kindness, respect, and the Catholic values and mission of Sacred Heart Catholic School. Job Requirements High school diploma or equivalent required; additional education or experience in education or child development preferred. Previous experience working with children is preferred. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a classroom team. Strong communication, patience, organization, and interpersonal skills. Ability to follow directions and respond appropriately to student needs. Commitment to supporting the mission and values of Catholic education.
