Job Description

Summary We are seeking a compassionate and dedicated individual to support the social and emotional development of students at Hamilton School District. The ideal candidate will work closely with teachers and school staff to create a nurturing environment that fosters positive social interactions and emotional well-being. This position requires an individual who is committed to helping students navigate their emotions and build resilience, ensuring that they can thrive academically and socially. Responsibilities
  • Assist teachers in implementing social-emotional learning programs and activities in the classroom.
  • Provide one-on-one and small group support to students experiencing social or emotional challenges.
  • Monitor student behavior and provide guidance to help them develop effective coping strategies.
  • Collaborate with teachers, counselors, and other school staff to create individualized support plans for students.
  • Facilitate conflict resolution and promote positive peer interactions among students.
  • Maintain accurate records of student progress and behavior and communicate regularly with teachers.
  • Attend staff meetings and participate in professional development opportunities as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the classroom teacher or school administration.
  • Assist in creating a safe and inclusive classroom environment that promotes respect and understanding among students.
  • Assist with the supervision of students during lunch, recess, and other non-instructional periods. Requirements
  • High school diploma or equivalent; associate's degree or higher in education, psychology, social work, or a related field preferred.
  • Strong understanding of social-emotional learning concepts and strategies.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, with the ability to build rapport with students, staff, and parents.
  • Patience, empathy, and a genuine desire to help students succeed emotionally and socially.
  • Ability to work collaboratively as part of a team and take direction from teachers and administrators.
  • Strong organizational skills and the ability to manage multiple tasks effectively.
  • Ability to pass a fingerprint-based background check per school board policy.
