Provide assistance to teachers in providing high quality, active learning experiences for all children in a safe, caring, and respectful environment by implementing the essential functions listed below:
Essential Functions:
1. Assist with instruction Prepare materials according teacher directions Assist in administering student assessments Lead small group activities Interacts with students in centers Work with individual students Perform other instructional tasks assigned by the supervising teacher(s) or the school administration 2. Assist with student supervision Assist with other supervision tasks as assigned by the supervising teacher(s) or the school administration. Follow NC Division of Child Development and Early Education supervision rules 3. Perform clerical tasks Assist with record keeping and clerical tasks assigned by the Lead Teacher. 4. Communicate appropriately within and about the educational environment § Maintains confidentiality. § Communicates with students, families, and staff in a professional manner 5. Assist the teacher with maintaining an appropriate preschool classroom environment
Education, Experience, and Skills Required:
(a) have a high school diploma or its equivalent and: (b) hold a Child Development Associate (CDA) credential and ; (c) hold or be working toward an Associate Degree or higher in birth-kindergarten, child development, early childhood education, or an early childhood education related field. Teacher assistants working toward the Associate Degree shall makes progress by completing a minimum of six semester hours per year.

Teacher Assistant Salary Scale Evaluation:
Performance of this job will be evaluated annually in accordance with provisions of Board of Education policy,North Carolinastatutes, and goals established by the Principal.
