Category Schools - Paraprofessional Job Type Contract Embrace a rewarding opportunity to make a difference as a valued support professional in educational settings. This contract position offers a dynamic placement in schools near Sylva and Waynesville, NC. As a paraprofessional, you'll support students and classrooms with a focus on 1:1 assistance and Exceptional Children (EC) teaching assistant roles. The schedule of Tuesday, Thursday, and Friday provides flexibility while allowing you to contribute meaningfully each week.
Qualifications and Preferred Experience:
Previous experience as a paraprofessional or teacher's assistant, especially in elementary, middle, or special education environments Ability to work 1:1 with students who have diverse learning needs, including those in Exceptional Children programs Effective communication and collaboration skills with teachers, students, and support staff Patience, adaptability, and a proactive attitude in classroom settings Comfortable supporting students with daily learning activities, implementing teacher-directed strategies, and promoting a positive classroom culture
Key Responsibilities:
Provide dedicated assistance to students needing individualized support Collaborate with lead teachers to implement lesson plans, support IEP goals, and reinforce classroom instructions Ensure student safety and inclusion by assisting with personal care, engagement, and behavioral encouragement as required Support both academic and social-emotional development through one-on-one and small group interactions Maintain accurate records of student progress and communicate observations to educational staff This role offers an impactful, hands-on experience within schools, ideal for professionals passionate about fostering student growth while enjoying a regular part-time schedule.
