Job Description

Position:

Instructional Aide Saint James School in Basking Ridge, NJ is looking for a supportive, organized, detail- and goal-oriented classroom Instructional Aide. The ideal candidate is a highly professional and motivated team player with school experience, especially in early childhood and early elementary grades. This is a part-time position . org Required Knowledge/Abilities include:

Adapt to different situations and schedules. Knowledge of the techniques and procedures used in working with targeted student population. Relate and communicate effectively with students, teachers, and parents. Communicate orally and in writing. Plan and/or implement instructional activities. Operate or learn to operate a variety of technology and equipment. Perform clerical responsibilities. Cooperate and work as a member of a team. Physical ability to lift student if required by job assignment.

Duties include:

Assist the teacher(s) in preparing materials, teaching aids, bulletin boards and equipment for direct instructional activity, including locating, copying, collating, distributing, and/or grouping materials supporting instructional activities planned by the teacher. Assist the teacher(s) in supervision of students in classroom, hallways, lunchroom, playground, as necessary and assigned. Assist the teacher in classroom management and enforcement of classroom rules and procedures. Provide instructional assistance as planned or coordinated by the teacher(s). Schedule space for specialized instructional programs and coordinate the arrangement of equipment, desks, tables, chairs and activity areas. Examine short- and long-term unit plans prepared by the teacher and anticipate the need for specific supplies and materials. Assist the teacher in preparing for changing curriculum to meet the needs of students with diverse cultural and socioeconomic backgrounds, learning styles, and special needs. Confer with teacher on progress of students. Serve as substitute teacher when necessary.
