Monday through Friday, 8:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. — no weekends or holidays
JOB SUMMARY

You will be part of a supportive program that promotes dignity, independence, social connection, and quality of life for older adults while providing valuable support to their families and caregivers. We are seeking a compassionate, dependable, and energetic Program Assistant to join our Spend-A-Day Adult Day Health Services Program. This is a rewarding opportunity for someone who enjoys helping older adults remain active, engaged, comfortable, and connected. The Program Assistant works as part of an interdisciplinary team to provide attentive supervision, personal care assistance, emotional support, and meaningful recreational programming. The ideal candidate is patient, encouraging, and comfortable supporting participants with physical impairments, dementia, or other age-related needs.
KEY RESPONSIBILITIES
Provide attentive supervision and support to program participants. Assist participants with Activities of Daily Living (ADLs). Respond compassionately to participants' physical, social, and emotional needs. Plan, facilitate, and participate in recreational and therapeutic group activities. Encourage participant engagement, independence, dignity, and social interaction. Support participants diagnosed with dementia or dementia-related disorders. Observe participants and communicate relevant changes or concerns to the appropriate staff member. Contribute observations and information to individualized care plans. Participate in staff meetings, training, and program planning. Maintain positive and professional communication with participants, families, coworkers, and other members of the care team. Help maintain a welcoming, safe, respectful, and engaging program environment. Perform other program-related duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
Experience working with older adults, particularly individuals with physical impairments. Ability and willingness to work compassionately with participants diagnosed with dementia or dementia-related disorders and other medical diagnoses. Strong interpersonal and communication skills. Ability to facilitate and direct individual and group activities. Ability to work cooperatively as part of a team. Patience, dependability, professionalism, and a genuine interest in serving older adults. Related post-secondary education or training is preferred. New Jersey Certified Home Health Aide (CHHA) credential or related caregiving experience is preferred but not required.
