This individual will be well versed in a variety of dance genres including Ballet, Tap, Jazz, and Hip Hop with experience instructing in a structured studio setting. The individual must be able to make lesson plans, take direction, follow a curriculum, and stay organized with good communication skills. Job responsibilities include preparing the studio for class, greeting students upon arrival for class, taking attendance, classroom management while effectively teaching a curriculum, checking students for benchmarks throughout the season, choreographing for two productions per season. Additional responsibilities include choreographing for The Arts Alliance's Dance Team, paid dance team travel, and collaborating with other staff on ideas for fundraisers, productions, and community events to further the mission of The Arts Alliance. Support classroom management by maintaining a positive, inclusive environment conducive to learning and self-expression. Help demonstrate dance techniques, choreography, and movements across styles such as ballet, jazz, contemporary, or hip-hop. Work closely with students to provide personalized guidance, encouragement, and feedback on their progress. Assist with setting up musical instruments or equipment needed for classes or performances. Contribute to youth programs by engaging children in age-appropriate dance activities and fostering childhood development through movement. Support instructors during rehearsals or performances by managing logistics and ensuring smooth transitions. This individual will also need to be able to communicate with the Director regarding class supply needs, student discipline (if applicable), and student engagement. Class ages range from 2 years through adults. This is a part-time position and pay starts at $22/hr and goes up depending on class length and instructor experience. Requirements Experience working with children and familiarity with childhood development principles. Strong background in teaching visual & performing arts, including dance instruction and choreography. Knowledge of classroom management techniques and behavior management strategies. Ability to work with students of diverse backgrounds, including special education needs if applicable. Passion for the arts with experience in ballet, tap, jazz, dance for musical theatre, hip hop, and contemporary. Excellent communication skills and the ability to foster a motivating environment for learners of all ages.
