Qualifications:
Possess basic signing skills (required for this paraprofessional role). Relevant credentials or certifications to work as a school paraprofessional. Previous experience in educational or special needs settings preferred. Excellent communication and collaboration skills. Ability to adapt to varied learning styles and student needs. Committed to supporting a safe, positive, and respectful classroom environment.
Responsibilities:
Assist students with classroom activities, reinforcing instructional goals set by teaching staff. Use sign language to facilitate communication and comprehension for students who are deaf or hard of hearing. Support individualized education plans (IEPs) by providing accommodations and modifications as needed. Foster independence and engagement among students within both group and one-on-one contexts. Collaborate with educators, therapists, and families to create a supportive learning atmosphere. Maintain accurate records of student progress and participate in team meetings as requested. Help supervise students during transitions, meals, and other daily activities.
