The School of Music at Baylor University seeks an engaging and collaborative church musician and educator to join its Church Music faculty as a full-time Assistant Teaching Professor. The successful candidate will contribute to undergraduate and graduate teaching, student mentoring and recruitment, and the School of Music's ongoing work of preparing skilled and thoughtful musicians for service in churches and other ministry contexts.

Competitive and commensurate with experience Qualifications Required A master's degree in Church Music, Worship Studies, Sacred Music, Music, Ministry/Theology, or a closely related field. Substantial professional experience in church music, worship leadership, music ministry, or a closely related form of Christian ministry practice. Evidence of effective teaching in collegiate, seminary, church-based, or comparable educational settings. Broad practical knowledge of music and worship ministry, with the ability to connect musical, theological, pastoral, organizational, and vocational dimensions of practice. Demonstrated ability to collaborate effectively and to mentor students preparing for varied forms of service in churches and ministry settings. Demonstrated commitment to creating an inclusive learning environment. Preferred A doctoral degree in a relevant field or equivalent distinguished professional experience. College-level teaching experience and the ability to teach across multiple practical and academic areas within Church Music/Worship. Experience with field education, internships, ministry formation, curricular development, or supervision of student practitioners. Experience in student recruitment, admissions, advising, or retention. Active professional networks among churches, worship leaders, church musicians, and/or professional organizations across a range of Christian traditions. Responsibilities Teach undergraduate and, as appropriate, graduate courses in Church Music/Worship, with particular attention to practical ministry, vocational formation, and areas aligned with the candidate's expertise and program needs. Mentor students preparing for professional ministry and church-music vocations, helping them integrate musical excellence, theological reflection, pastoral awareness, and practical leadership. Support internships, field-based learning, ministry placements, or other experiential learning as assigned. Participate actively in recruitment, auditions/admissions activities, student advising, and retention efforts for Church Music programs. Collaborate with Church Music faculty and Dunn Center staff on events, educational programs, outreach, and partnerships with churches and ministry leaders. Maintain active professional and/or creative engagement in church music, worship, ministry, or related fields. Participate in School of Music and University service as appropriate. Engage in significant professional and creative activities and/or research within the discipline and contribute to the intellectual life and mission of Baylor University and the School of Music.
