KEAP Intensive Instructional Assistant

Job Description

The Kingdom East School District, Student Services, is seeking an Intensive Instructional Assistant (IIA) assigned to work at the Newark Street School Afterschool Program. Required hours are 3:00pm to 5:00pm Monday through Thursday during the school year, additional hours are available to the applicant if desired. The candidate must be energetic and love working with children. The IIA position's purpose is to develop and interpret individual needs of students by helping to create and implement behavior and/or instructional support programs with consultation with the KEAP staff and the special educator. The hired candidate will be trained in Handle With Care and must be able to physically join all activities that their assigned student will join. Candidates must successfully complete the ParaPro assessment or have an associates or higher degree. The IIA provides observable student data that meet the program goals of students with early childhood, developmental delay and/or other special needs. This position will target goal-directive services to assist students in accessing instruction in a developmentally appropriate, functional and independent manner. A background check, including fingerprinting is required upon employment. The pay range for this position is $20.85/hr.-$26.96/hr. Kingdom East School District is located in the heart of a vibrant community in the Northeast Kingdom of Vermont. We operate seven preK-8th grade schools ranging from 60 to 500 students. Our high school students have choice and may opt to attend one of the traditional independent schools -- Lyndon Institute or St. Johnsbury Academy -- or another high school of their choosing.

We are located about 3 hours from Boston, Montreal and Portland, ME. Our region is known for breathtaking views and access to great skiing, hiking, mountain biking, fishing, canoeing and other outdoor opportunities. We are close to the White Mountains and the Green Mountains. Both Littleton, NH and St. Johnsbury, VT have numerous fine and performing arts venues.
