Feist Vocational Counseling and Placement, a leading employment organization in Dane County, is seeking a Day Program Instructor to work in our daily classes which are a mix of facility-based and community-based activities that allow our participants ages 18 and up to grow and engage! The Feist Day Program emphasizes classroom engagement and community-based learning geared towards empowering and supporting persons with disabilities to achieve their highest potential. Our mission is to provide intentional learning and experiences while meeting the human needs of competence, independence, autonomy, safety, and joyful engagement.
Job duties:
Provide 1:1 support with clients for successful engagement in curriculum
Assist in the implementation and understanding of class curriculum
Assist in lesson planning, including group activities, guest speakers, outings and more!
Track progress when necessary, and provide constructive feedback to participants
Work collaboratively with Feist day program coordinator, that will provide support for participants at their work sites and within the classroom
Required Qualifications:
Have a basic understanding of disabilities, symptoms, medications, behavior management and strength-based perspective in skill building
Strong communication skills, including public speaking, goal planning sessions and Conversing with local employers
Ability to work in a classroom setting and community employment setting, interchangeably throughout each day
Natural ability to develop trusting relationships with participants and their families
Strong desire to create, implement and re-assess programs core functions
Ability to provide classroom management, trouble shoot and manage intrapersonal concerns among participants
Have a positive "can-do" attitude
Ability to be flexible and adapt to the needs of the classroom and participants
Valid Driver's License, Insurance, and reliable transportation.
(Vehicle required) Successful completion of a standard background check, including review of any criminal record and complying with the State of Wisconsin DVR Criminal background check policy
Physical Requirements:
