Job Description

Tiger's Den Assistant Teacher

POSITION SUMMARY

Provide leadership to children at The Tiger's Den, a program serving youth ages 4 - 13 at Northwestern Elementary School, Poplar, WI. Provide positive leadership and guidance to children in attending the Tiger's Den. Visually supervise children and immediately respond to emergency situations; observe children in environment; protect and prevent harm to them; communicate with children, parents and other staff; be able to move quickly. To identify children's interests, needs, & notes development to discuss with the teacher. Implement lesson plan activities designed around children's interests including: outdoor education, literacy, gross motor, art, team-building and games Provide positive role modeling.

Qualifications:

18 years of age or older. Ability to interact with all age levels. Able to accompany children to main program areas, assist Lead Teacher and Program Director in leading small and large group activities, supervise children's participation in structure and unstructured activities, demonstrate sensitivity to the needs of children served, interact appropriately with children and staff in all types of situations, appropriately model behavior and use of positive behavior management techniques. Must have enthusiasm, patience, creativity, common sense and a commitment to work with children and ability to build relationships with people.
