QUALIFICATIONS
High School Graduate or GED. Hold classification title in category of employment or meet the definition of the job title pursuant to WV Code 18-4-8c. Possess the knowledge, skills and ability to successfully carry out responsibilities of the position.
REPORTS TO
Principal and Supervising Teacher(s)
ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONS
1. To work with individual or small groups of students to reinforce learning of material and skills initially introduced by the teacher. 2. Guides independent study, enrichment work, learning centers, etc. set up and assigned by the teacher. 3. To monitor individual activities, learning centers, etc. assigned by the teacher. 4. To assist the teacher in devising special strageties for reinforcing learning based on individual needs, interests, and abilities, as planned by the teacher. 5. To help children utilize equipment and/or instructional materials assigned by the teacher. 6. To assist students with lunch, snacks, physical needs, clean-up/wash-up, toilet routine, occupational therapy, physical therapy and operates specialized equipment (i.e., catherization) under direction of teacher and/or health care professional. 7. To assist with the supervision of children during playground periods and field trips. 8. To assist the teacher in preparation of activities on an ongoing basis. 9. To assist with any other responsibilities deemed necessary by the teacher for the successful operation of the program. 10. Ability to relate to and work with others. 11. Ability to organize and manage time.
