4 Merced, CA Job Details $22.14 an hour 1 day ago Qualifications Writing skills Working with students from diverse cultural backgrounds Cross-functional collaboration Full Job Description The new Social Science Learning Hub will offer support for Psychology, Public Health, Sociology and more with drop-in sessions focused broadly on the skills needed for success in these courses. Social Science Learning Consultants (Tutors) sit alongside students as knowledgeable peers to support students' their academic growth by helping them develop effective learning practices, study strategies, and approaches for engaging with social science coursework. Responsibilities include helping students identify and apply information from course materials, strengthen notetaking and organization strategies, work through challenging concepts, and develop approaches to learning that build confidence and independence. In addition, Writing Consultants are expected to work collaboratively on projects in support of the Social Science Learning Hub's mission (workshops, outreach events, social media, etc.).
Requirements of the position include:
Commitment to a fixed semester schedule Participation in mandatory orientation/training prior to the start of instruction Participation in mandatory bi-weekly staff meetings (tentatively: Fridays, 3:00
