General Description of Responsibilities:

The Math Tutor position is a part-time position that supports in-school math instruction as a joint effort between EUREKA! Science Museum and School District 51. The purpose of this program is to close the achievement gap and increase math success and self-efficacy in students. The incumbent will be responsible for engaging and supporting elementary or middle school students in their D51 math classes with the guidance of their classroom teacher, through small group instructional support. Math tutoring hours will be during the school day, Monday-Thursday 10:00am-3:30pm. This position requires a strong leader who is passionate about education, has a desire to work with youth, and who can provide meaningful, fun learning experiences to participants.

Essential Job Responsibilities:

Support math teachers in local schools through instructional support for 1st-8th grade Build positive connections with students and staff Clearly explain mathematical concepts and apply knowledge of multiple strategies, while maintaining a commitment to equity, compassion, and growth mindset (for self and students) Communicate with the classroom teacher regarding student outcomes Entry level data management Communicate with EUREKA! Supervisor(s) regarding schedule and feedback

Requirements:

Available Monday-Thursday 10am to 4pm 1-2 years of experience working with students grades K-8 1 year of classroom experience Comfortable with elementary and/or middle school math concepts Successful outcomes on a criminal background check (FBI & CBI) Associates Degree or enrolled in a college or university Desired Qualifications /

Experience:

Prior tutoring experience K-12 Formal education related to math or education Experience working for grant-funded programs Entry level data management
