Job Description

Full-Time Exam Prep Coordinator - SAT/ACTPosition Summary The Exam Prep Coordinator is a full-time instructional leadership position responsible for ensuring the quality, consistency, and effectiveness of SAT and ACT preparation programs. This position is designed for an experienced SAT/ACT educator , particularly someone with significant expertise in English, Reading, Writing, Grammar, and Verbal instruction , who is ready to combine direct student instruction with leadership and coaching responsibilities. The Exam Prep Coordinator will work directly with students while also serving as the instructional leader for the Exam Prep tutoring team. The Coordinator is responsible for ensuring tutors follow established instructional expectations, students receive consistently high-quality instruction, assigned work is completed appropriately, progress is carefully monitored, and programs are adjusted when students are not progressing at the expected rate. This is not an entry-level position . The successful candidate must have substantial experience teaching SAT and/or ACT preparation and demonstrate the ability to coach other instructors, analyze student performance, identify instructional weaknesses, and take ownership of student outcomes. Primary ResponsibilitiesSAT/ACT Instruction Provide exceptional SAT and ACT instruction to students across a range of academic ability levels. Serve as a lead instructor, with particular expertise in: SAT Reading and Writing ACT English ACT Reading Grammar and conventions of standard English Reading comprehension Rhetorical analysis Vocabulary in context Passage analysis Test-taking strategies Time-management strategies Explain difficult concepts in ways that students can easily understand and apply. Help students develop both the academic skills and testing strategies necessary to maximize their scores. Motivate students while maintaining clear expectations for effort, attendance, homework, and preparation. Adjust instructional techniques based on individual student strengths, weaknesses, learning styles, and score goals. Exam Prep Tutor Leadership & Coaching Serve as the primary instructional resource for SAT and ACT tutors. Observe tutor performance and provide specific, actionable coaching.
Help tutors improve:
Instructional technique Student engagement Explanation of complex concepts Question analysis Pacing Homework review Test-taking strategy instruction Student motivation Establish and reinforce consistent instructional expectations across the Exam Prep tutoring team. Ensure students receive a high-quality experience regardless of which qualified tutor conducts a particular session. Identify tutors requiring additional training, support, or intervention. Conduct ongoing tutor development and instructional calibration. Provide demonstrations or model lessons when needed. Help onboard and train newly hired Exam Prep tutors. Work with management to evaluate tutor strengths and determine appropriate student assignments. Quality Assurance & Program Fidelity The Exam Prep Coordinator is responsible for maintaining a consistently high standard of instruction throughout the Exam Prep program.
Responsibilities include:
Ensure tutors follow the established SAT/ACT curriculum and instructional process with fidelity. Review instructional records and student progress documentation for accuracy and completeness. Ensure tutors are properly preparing for sessions. Verify that assigned homework and digital practice appropriately align with student needs. Ensure completed work is reviewed rather than simply assigned. Monitor the balance between content instruction, strategy instruction, practice, and review. Identify inconsistencies between tutors and correct them quickly. Ensure students are receiving appropriate instruction in both their areas of strength and areas requiring improvement. Reinforce expectations regarding professionalism, punctuality, reliability, preparation, and student engagement. Student Progress & Score Growth A critical responsibility of this position is ensuring that students are actually progressing , not simply completing tutoring hours.
The Exam Prep Coordinator will:
Review baseline SAT/ACT scores and establish clear instructional priorities for each student. Understand each student's target score and overall testing goals. Monitor progress by subject, skill, subskill, and question difficulty. Review practice test and progress test results. Analyze patterns of missed questions to identify underlying skill deficiencies. Compare student performance against expected progress throughout the program. Identify students who are not progressing adequately and intervene quickly. Develop corrective instructional plans when progress falls below expectations. Adjust the balance of Math and Verbal instruction when performance data indicates a need. Recommend additional practice, homework, digital assignments, or instructional emphasis where appropriate. Ensure students complete appropriate practice tests at established points throughout their programs. Track progress toward individual student score goals. Student Program Oversight The Exam Prep Coordinator will help oversee Exam Prep students from enrollment through test completion.
Responsibilities include:
Review student academic evaluations and diagnostic results. Understand each student's prescribed program. Monitor instructional hours completed versus remaining. Review student attendance and consistency. Monitor homework completion. Track workbook and digital assignment completion. Monitor progress testing timelines. Review SAT/ACT practice test results. Ensure appropriate instructional adjustments are made based on student performance. Identify students requiring additional attention before problems become significant. Communicate important academic concerns to center leadership. Provide clear recommendations rather than simply identifying problems. Tutor Accountability The Exam Prep Coordinator will help establish a culture in which instructional quality and student results are everyone's responsibility. The Coordinator will ensure that tutors: Arrive prepared and on time. Maintain dependable and consistent availability. Follow established instructional procedures. Provide students their full attention and effort during every session. Accurately document instructional progress. Assign appropriate homework. Review prior homework and student errors. Understand each student's goals and current performance. Communicate concerns promptly. Provide positive, professional, and motivating instruction. Take ownership of the student's success. Repeated instructional quality or documentation concerns must be identified, coached, documented, and escalated to center leadership when necessary. Parent & Management Communication Provide center leadership with clear updates regarding Exam Prep student performance. Identify students who may be at risk of failing to reach anticipated progress. Clearly explain the instructional reason behind recommended program changes. Assist with parent progress discussions when advanced SAT/ACT instructional knowledge is needed. Help explain practice test results, score trends, areas of improvement, and remaining instructional priorities. Provide realistic, data-supported assessments of student progress. Communicate concerns early rather than waiting until a student's official test date approaches. Exam Prep Team Development Help create a high-performing team of SAT/ACT instructors. Identify instructional best practices and share them across the team. Conduct targeted mini-trainings based on observed tutor needs. Review changes to SAT and ACT testing formats, question types, timing, and strategies. Ensure instructors remain current regarding the Digital SAT and current ACT testing formats. Develop tutors' ability to teach students at different score levels. Help instructors move beyond simply explaining answers to teaching students how to independently solve similar questions in the future. Build a culture of continuous improvement, collaboration, professionalism, and accountability. QualificationsRequired Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Significant professional experience teaching or tutoring SAT and/or ACT preparation . Extensive knowledge of SAT and ACT Verbal content, particularly: Grammar Reading comprehension Writing English conventions Rhetorical skills Passage analysis Demonstrated success working with students preparing for high-stakes standardized examinations. Strong understanding of SAT and ACT scoring and testing structures. Ability to interpret diagnostic and practice test data. Proven ability to identify student weaknesses and develop targeted instructional strategies. Ability to coach, train, and provide constructive feedback to other educators. Exceptional written and verbal communication skills. Strong organizational and documentation skills. High degree of reliability and professionalism. Ability to work independently and take ownership of responsibilities without extensive daily supervision. Ability to work afternoons, evenings, and weekends when Exam Prep students are most frequently scheduled. Strongly Preferred Multiple years of direct SAT/ACT tutoring experience. Experience serving as a lead tutor, instructional coach, department chair, curriculum leader, or teacher mentor. Demonstrated history of helping students achieve meaningful SAT or ACT score improvement. Experience teaching students across a broad range of starting scores and academic abilities. Experience training or supervising other tutors or teachers. Knowledge of both SAT/ACT Verbal and Math content, with advanced Verbal/English expertise strongly preferred . Ideal Candidate The ideal Exam Prep Coordinator is someone who can walk into a tutoring session and provide exceptional instruction, then walk into the next room and help another instructor become better at delivering that same level of instruction.

Understands that completing instructional hours is not the goal— student growth and score improvement are the goal . Is comfortable being accountable for the overall quality of the Exam Prep program. The Exam Prep Coordinator should expect to spend significant time directly tutoring students while simultaneously maintaining responsibility for the quality and effectiveness of the broader Exam Prep instructional program. The successful candidate will not simply administer the program. They will teach it, understand it, evaluate it, coach it, improve it, and take ownership of its results . The position is intended for an experienced Exam Prep professional seeking a long-term opportunity to have a direct impact on students while developing a high-performing instructional team.
