Bee the Change Collective is expanding our tutoring network in Ocala. We're looking for educators who have spent years working with students and still enjoy the moment when something that wasn't making sense finally clicks. This is hands-on, one-to-one work. You'll meet students in their homes and focus on the subjects you know best. Depending on your background, that could mean elementary reading and math, middle school coursework, high school English, science or mathematics, or helping a student develop stronger study and organizational skills. A Typical Assignment We match tutors with individual students based on the needs of the family and the tutor's background. One student might need to rebuild skills they missed earlier. Another may be doing well overall but struggling in a particular class. Some need help with organization and keeping up with assignments. Others simply learn better when someone can slow things down and give them individual attention. Our students have different personalities, strengths, and learning needs. Some families are also seeking educators comfortable supporting students with ADHD, autism, dyslexia, executive functioning difficulties, IEPs, 504 Plans, or other learning differences. You won't be handed a script. We're hiring experienced professionals because we expect you to know how to teach, adjust, and find a way into the material when the first approach doesn't work. The Basics You'll be responsible for meeting with students at their homes, preparing for sessions, providing instruction in your areas of expertise, and communicating professionally with families. Reliability matters. When you agree to work with a student, that family should be able to count on you to be there consistently and ready to teach. Who We Want to Meet This is not an entry-level tutoring position. We're looking for candidates with at least 10 years of professional teaching and/or tutoring experience and a strong history of working directly with students.

You should also have:

Deep knowledge of at least one academic subject or grade-level area The ability to recognize why a student is struggling and change your approach accordingly Strong communication skills with both students and adults Patience and the ability to build rapport without losing academic focus A dependable and professional approach to scheduling Reliable transportation The ability to travel to students' homes for every assignment you accept A bachelor's degree is preferred. Teaching certification is helpful, but it is not necessary for every placement. How Scheduling Works There is no set weekly caseload that every tutor must take. When we have an Ocala-area student whose needs align with your experience, we'll consider the match based on subject, grade level, location, and availability. You can determine whether the opportunity works for you before committing. This structure works especially well for experienced educators looking for meaningful part-time work without taking on another traditional classroom schedule. Pay General academic tutoring starts at $50 per hour. Certain specialized assignments may offer a higher rate. Tutors work as 1099 independent contractors on a part-time basis. All sessions are held in person at students' homes in Ocala and nearby communities. This role requires local travel and does not include virtual tutoring.
