1002071 Student Employment Student employment is an important source of financial aid. It is part-time, temporary employment which is contingent on continued eligibility. Opportunities are available at all campus sites year-round. Available hours are dependent on students' eligibility and department needs. Approved students work an average of 10 - 15 hours per week and are paid $15.00 per hour. Students are paid biweekly. Funds are sent directly to the student and are not subtracted from any balance due to SPC. Position Description Position Overview The America Reads and America Counts programs provide Federal Work Study students with the opportunity to make a meaningful impact in local elementary and middle schools throughout Pinellas County. Student employees work directly with teachers and school staff to support K-8 students through tutoring, academic assistance, and classroom support activities. Positions begin during the Pinellas County Schools (PCS) academic school year and continue throughout the school year based on funding, performance, and enrollment eligibility. Responsibilities Provide one-on-one and small group tutoring to elementary and middle school students. Assist teachers with classroom activities and instructional support. Follow teacher lesson plans and directions. Help reinforce reading, writing, and/or mathematics skills. Encourage student engagement and academic success. Maintain a professional and positive learning environment. Report to assigned school site as scheduled and fulfill all work commitments. Required Skills and Qualifications Strong tutoring and communication skills. Patience, professionalism, and reliability. Ability to follow teacher instructions and lesson plans. Punctuality and consistent attendance. Commitment to scheduled work hours each week and throughout the academic year. Eligibility Requirements To be considered, students must: Be eligible for Federal Work Study. Have completed a FAFSA. Be enrolled in at least 6 credit hours. Be meeting Satisfactory Academic Progress (SAP) requirements. Have reliable transportation to their assigned school location. Successfully complete the additional background screening required by Pinellas County Schools. America Reads Requirements Applicants must have completed

(Composition I) with a grade of B or higher . America Counts Requirements Applicants must have completed
MAC 1105
(College Algebra) with a grade of B or higher . Desired Work Schedule Flexible scheduling based on school and student availability. Approximately 5-15 hours per week .
