Academic Tutor - Elementary through College Level The Study Co. is seeking knowledgeable, dependable, and engaging academic tutors to join our team. We are looking for instructors who are passionate about helping students build confidence, strengthen academic skills, and achieve their educational goals. Our students range from Elementary school through College, and tutoring needs vary by subject and academic level. Tutors may work with students individually or in small-group settings depending on student needs and program structure. Subjects We Are Hiring For We are currently seeking tutors with experience in one or more of the following areas: English / Language Arts Mathematics Science Social Studies / History SAT Preparation ACT Preparation We are especially interested in tutors who can teach advanced high school and college-preparatory subjects, including: English AP English Language and Composition AP English Literature and Composition Essay Writing Reading Comprehension Grammar and Writing Skills Mathematics Pre-Algebra Algebra I & II Geometry Precalculus AP Precalculus AP Calculus AB AP Calculus BC AP Statistics College-level Mathematics Science Biology Chemistry Physics Environmental Science AP Biology AP Chemistry AP Physics Other advanced science courses Computer Science AP Computer Science Principles Other introductory computer science courses Social Studies / History World History U.S. History Government Psychology AP World History AP U.S. History (APUSH) AP Psychology Other AP Social Studies courses Standardized Test Preparation We are also seeking tutors with experience preparing students for: SAT ACT Previous SAT or ACT teaching experience is strongly preferred for test-preparation instructors. Responsibilities Tutors will be expected to: Provide high-quality academic instruction tailored to each student's level and needs Explain concepts clearly and in a way that students can understand Help students strengthen foundational skills while also preparing for advanced coursework Assist students with homework, school assignments, test preparation, and academic skill development Prepare students for quizzes, exams, AP exams, the SAT, and/or ACT as appropriate Identify areas where students need additional support and adjust instruction accordingly Encourage effective study habits, organization, and independent learning Track student progress and communicate relevant academic updates Maintain a positive, professional, and supportive learning environment Arrive prepared and on time for scheduled tutoring sessions Communicate professionally with The Study Co. staff, students, and families Qualifications Ideal candidates will have: Strong knowledge of the subject(s) they plan to teach Ability to teach students clearly, patiently, and effectively Strong communication and interpersonal skills Reliability, professionalism, and organization Ability to adapt instruction to students with different learning styles and academic abilities A bachelor's degree or current enrollment in a college or university is preferred. Previous experience in tutoring, teaching, mentoring, academic coaching, or education is highly preferred. For AP, SAT, ACT, or advanced-level courses, applicants should have strong subject-area knowledge and relevant teaching, tutoring, coursework, or testing experience.
