Music Tutor (Non-Certified) - (Independent Contractor) About Indiana Learning Center LLC Indiana Learning Center LLC is seeking a passionate, dependable, and student-focused Music Tutor to join our growing team. Our mission is to provide personalized, high-quality educational support that helps students Learn, Grow, and Succeed. This position offers the opportunity to make a meaningful impact on students' musical and educational development while maintaining the flexibility and independence of an independent contractor role. Position Summary The Music Tutor provides individualized instruction designed to strengthen students' musical knowledge, instrumental or vocal performance, music theory, and overall musicianship. Tutors work directly with students and families to support musical growth, improve confidence, develop performance skills, and help students achieve their educational and personal goals. Instruction may include instrumental performance, vocal instruction, music theory, sight-reading, rhythm, technique, ear training, practice strategies, and general musicianship. Lessons are tailored to each student's age, experience level, interests, learning style, and goals. Lessons are scheduled based on tutor and student availability and may take place at an Indiana Learning Center partner location, a mutually agreed-upon public location, another approved instructional setting, or through a virtual classroom. Services may include in-person and online instruction depending on student demand and geographic location. Responsibilities Music Tutors are responsible for providing effective, individualized instruction in instrumental or vocal performance, music theory, sight-reading, rhythm, technique, and overall musicianship. Tutors assist students with lesson assignments, performance preparation, skill development, practice techniques, and enrichment activities while encouraging musical curiosity, confidence, and independent practice habits. Tutors are expected to assess student progress and adjust instructional strategies as appropriate to support continued musical development. Instruction should be adapted to accommodate students of varying ages, ability levels, experience, and musical interests. Tutors are responsible for coordinating lesson schedules and maintaining professional, timely, and respectful communication with students, parents, guardians, and Indiana Learning Center LLC representatives. This includes honoring scheduled commitments and promptly communicating any cancellations, delays, or changes in availability. Tutors must maintain accurate service records through Indiana Learning Center's approved systems, including attendance, lesson dates, lesson notes, and other required documentation. All tutors are expected to maintain a safe, supportive, and professional learning environment, protect confidential student and family information, and comply with applicable company policies, procedures, and safety requirements. Qualifications Applicants must demonstrate strong musical knowledge, performance ability, and communication skills. Candidates should be able to effectively teach music concepts and performance skills to students of varying ages and ability levels. The ability to work independently, communicate professionally, and build positive relationships with students and families is required. Candidates should demonstrate patience, reliability, preparedness, and a genuine interest in helping students develop their musical abilities. Current CPR/AED and First Aid certifications are required, or candidates must be willing to obtain them before providing services. Successful completion of any required background screening is also required before working with students. Preferred qualifications include a bachelor's degree in Education, Music, Music Education, Performance, or a related field, as well as previous tutoring, teaching, mentoring, or music instruction experience. Experience working with children and adolescents is also preferred. Schedule and Work Environment This is a flexible, part-time Independent Contractor (1099) position. Lessons are arranged based on student demand and tutor availability. Evening and after-school availability may be preferred depending on student needs, and weekend opportunities may be available. Music instruction may be provided at Indiana Learning Center partner locations, mutually agreed-upon public locations, schools, community settings, client homes when appropriate and approved, or through virtual learning environments. Tutors may provide services in person, virtually, or through a combination of both. Because Indiana Learning Center serves students across multiple communities, opportunities may vary based on geographic location, student enrollment, and instrument or vocal specialization. Compensation and Contractor Classification This is an Independent Contractor (1099) position. Compensation is competitive and may vary based on experience, qualifications, musical specialization, lesson assignments, and other factors established by Indiana Learning Center LLC. As an independent contractor, tutors are responsible for managing their own federal, state, and local tax obligations, business expenses, and compliance with applicable regulations. This position does not establish an employer-employee relationship with Indiana Learning Center LLC. Why Join Indiana Learning Center LLC?
