Job Description

In-Person First Grade Tutor - Oxford, MI Tutor Doctor is seeking a patient, energetic, and encouraging tutor to work with a first-grade student at the Oxford Public Library.

Oxford Public Library, Oxford, Michigan Schedule:
Once per week
Pay:
$22 per hour
Format:
In-person tutoring About the Student This active and energetic six-year-old has strong listening comprehension and engages well during instruction. He benefits from positive reinforcement and may shut down when frustrated, so patience, encouragement, and an upbeat approach are essential. Learning Goals Strengthen lowercase letter recognition Resolve letter confusion Build a strong phonics foundation Develop fine motor and handwriting skills Ideal Tutoring Approach The ideal tutor will create interactive, multisensory sessions using movement, magnets, tactile tools, and other hands-on activities. Lessons should connect with the student's interests, which include football, fishing, lacrosse, basketball, gymnastics, animals, dinosaurs, superheroes, Disney, and Curious George. Qualifications Experience working with early elementary students Knowledge of beginning phonics and literacy skills Ability to use patient, positive, and engaging teaching methods Experience supporting handwriting or fine motor development is helpful Dependable and able to meet consistently in person at the Oxford Public Library If you enjoy helping young learners build confidence through creative, hands-on instruction, we would love to hear from you.
