Overview Are you an energetic driver who loves working with youth and wants a dynamic role? We are seeking a dedicated Tutor & Driver for our Kids Club Program, serving school-age children (grades K-12). This unique, dual-responsibility role blends academic enrichment with exciting recreation. In the mornings, you will work directly inside our childcare center as a tutor, helping students navigate digital learning tools. In the afternoons, you will shift gears to safely drive our program van, transporting students and staff to field trips and sports activities. Responsibilities Safely operate authorized vehicles, adhering to all traffic laws and safety regulations. Transport students to designated locations, ensuring punctuality and safety at all times. When not driving, supervise and monitor the safety of children including during an emergency situation. Communicate clearly with students, parents, school staff, and colleagues to coordinate routes and address any concerns. Manage student behavior on the vehicle using positive behavior management techniques to maintain a safe and respectful environment. Conduct routine vehicle inspections, including mechanical checks, to ensure optimal operation and safety standards are met. Assist students with special needs or those requiring childcare support, including Paratransit services if applicable. Maintain accurate logs of routes, student counts, incidents, and vehicle maintenance reports. When not driving, assist in feeding students during meals service including but not limited to serving meals, making sure their hands are cleaned before and after meals, When not driving, ensure floor and tables are cleaned after each meal. Sweeping floor to remove crumbs. When not driving, prepare student's computers before their arrival. When not driving, assist tutors in supervising students during homework or assigned computer work. Experience Proven experience in driving or commercial driving with a valid Chauffeur's license suitable for operating large vehicles such as a 15-passenger school buses or a Paratransit vehicle. Strong communication skills in English; bilingual abilities are a plus for engaging with diverse communities. Knowledge of driving safety protocols, mechanical basics of vehicle maintenance, and behavior management strategies. Experience working with children or in childcare settings is highly desirable. Familiarity with customer service principles to interact positively with students, parents, and school staff. Ability to handle emergency situations calmly and effectively while maintaining safety standards. Prior experience in teaching or working in senior care can be beneficial for understanding diverse needs of passengers. Pay:
$16.00 - $18.00 per hour
