NC Education Corps Tutor

Job Description Step 1: Visit https://nceducationcorps.org/tutor-asheville/ to submit your NCEC Interest Form.

Step 2: Complete the NCEC Spark Hire Video Interview upon submission of your interest form.

Step 3: If recommended by the NCEC team to the ACS team, submit the Asheville City Schools district application to apply to become a part-time employee of Asheville City Schools. As an NC Education Corps Member, you will work in-person in an assigned placement school in one of our partner districts or charter schools. To follow the high-impact tutoring model, you will work at least 3 days a week, with 1-3 students for 30 minutes at a time. This work will support K-5 students with their foundational literacy skills. Tutors will focus on the five pillars of reading: phonological awareness, phonics, fluency, vocabulary, and comprehension. A background in education is not required. Comprehensive training and professional development will prepare you to support students throughout the school year. You will become an employee of the school district and, as such, will be paid hourly (pay rates vary by district). A paid initial training will be required upon the start date.

Exact dates and times for any learning and onboarding will be shared once you have been hired. Visit our website, https://nceducationcorps.org/, to learn more about preferred time commitment, tutoring hours, pay rate, placement schools, and qualifications for the district nearest you.
