Job Description

North Duplin Elementary is seeking a dedicated Part-Time 1st Grade Instructional Tutor to support early literacy and math achievement. Working directly under the supervision of classroom teachers, the tutor will provide targeted academic support to students through small group instruction and one-on-one interventions. This position ends on May 21, 2026
Classified Part-Time Tutor Purpose:
The classified part-time tutor will support the instruction in the classrooms by providing targeted instruction to groups of students selected by the classroom teacher. This position will support targeted instruction in mathematics, reading, science in the elementary and middle school grade levels.
Qualifications:
Two years degree or equivalent course work preferred. Minimum of high school diploma required. Two years of experience working with K-13 grade students preferred.
Reports to:
School Principal Essential Functions:
Uses district resources to work with students in groups and individually to address areas of improvement based on common assessments. Provides individualized support to students needing enhancement in identified concepts. Meets with students in and outside of the classroom as directed by the classroom teacher. Assists selected students with setting goals, self-awareness, and reflection on academic progress. Observes and monitors student performance and discusses findings with teachers.
