Job description: After-School Teacher / Homework Tutor Overview SunnyBird Enrichment is seeking patient, responsible, and caring After-School Teachers / Homework Tutors to join our team in Queens. We are looking for individuals who genuinely enjoy working with children, understand the learning needs of students from Pre-K through 6th grade , and can provide patient and effective homework support while maintaining a safe, positive, and organized after-school environment. Pay $17-$25 per hour Compensation within the posted range will be based on teaching/tutoring experience, education, qualifications, job responsibilities, and the ability to assist with student pickup from local schools with a valid driver's license.

Working Hours Monday-Friday:

approximately 2:00 PM-6:00 PM or 3:00 PM-5:30 PM Weekends as needed. Responsibilities Lead and supervise a classroom of approximately 10-18 students Provide daily homework help and academic support for students from Pre-K through 6th grade Assist students with Math, ELA, Science, and Social Studies Patiently explain assignments and academic concepts to students at different grade levels Help students develop good homework, organizational, and study habits Supervise snack time, outdoor play, and other after-school activities Maintain a positive, organized, and supportive classroom environment Ensure the safety and well-being of all children in the program Report any incidents, concerns, or conflicts to the After-School Manager Communicate with parents and caregivers professionally and compassionately Assist with the safe arrival and dismissal of students Support enrichment and educational activities as needed Qualifications Must be patient, caring, responsible, and genuinely enjoy working with children Familiar with the homework, learning needs, and academic expectations of students from Pre-K through 6th grade A valid driver's license and the ability to assist with student pickup from local schools is a major plus Able to patiently explain homework and academic concepts to children at different grade levels Must be fluent in spoken and written English Experience teaching, tutoring, mentoring, or working with groups of children is preferred Associate or Bachelor's degree in Education is preferred, or currently pursuing a degree in Education or a related field College students and high school students with outstanding academic performance are also encouraged to apply Current public or private school teachers are strongly encouraged to apply Knowledge of Common Core Standards is a plus Teaching certification or license is a plus Must be punctual, reliable, responsible, and professional Candidates residing in Queens, NY, or nearby are preferred Locations Rego Park 64-86 Wetherole Street, Unit 1A Rego Park, NY 11374 Flushing 36-23 172nd Street Flushing, NY 11358 When applying, please indicate which location you are interested in.
