Writing Center Professional Tutor (Part-Time)

Job Description

Job Title:
Writing Center Professional Tutor (Part-Time) The Writing Center at Neumann University is seeking a responsible and dependable in-person Professional Tutor to guide both undergraduate and graduate students in varying stages of the writing process. This is a part-time, not benefit eligible, hourly position.
Duties & Responsibilities:
Assist students with scheduling appointments, navigating WC ONLINE, and troubleshooting. Tutor and collaborate with students face-to-face on writing assignments and various stages of the writing process. Schedule Writing Center partnerships when needed. Assist in the creation of marketing materials for the center, workshop and event flyers, bulletin boards, etc. Host and help with materials for class visits, presentations, workshops, and university or Writing Center events.
Qualifications:
Technology Proficient in the Microsoft Office Suite or related software and Canva Demonstrates an ability and willingness to learn new technology platforms, including
WC ONLINE
Academics Must have passed all undergraduate English and writing intensive courses with an A- or above Proficient knowledge of APA, AMA, and MLA formats Master's degree preferred Skills Must embody a love for writing and helping others Demonstrates strong writing skills. Applicants must submit a writing sample that they believe showcases their talents and writing skills Exhibits a high degree of dependability and punctuality Possesses strong collaborative skills and must be an enthusiastic team player, while also demonstrating ability to work independently Demonstrates clear communication with the Director of the Writing Center, staff, and student clients Maintains professionalism and adheres to Writing Center/student confidentiality, protocol, safety, and policies Ability to work with diverse student populations, understand their challenges, and provide personalized, writing support to help them grow into stronger writers Ability to manage multiple tasks and adhere to deadlines Candidates must possess an understanding of, appreciation for, and congruence with the Catholic Franciscan mission of the University.
