Job Description

Now Hiring:
The Winchester Recreation Department is hiring Basketball League Officials for Boys and Girls Grades 3-8 Join our team as a Basketball Official for our Youth Recreation League! We're looking for enthusiastic, responsible individuals aged 16 and up to help create a fun, fair, and safe environment for young athletes. No certification required—just a love for the game and a commitment to sportsmanship.
Season:
December 1, 2025 - March 21, 2026
Pay:
$17.50-$25.00 per hour
Boys and Girls Schedule:
Saturdays, 7:30am-3:00pm Times are subject to change based on number of teams/schedule
Who:
Must be 16 years of age or older This position plays a key leadership role in shaping our youngest athletes' first experience with basketball. You'll guide and mentor parent volunteer coaches, lead age-appropriate skill sessions, and supervise one of our program sites to ensure a positive and well-run environment.
What You'll Do:
Officiate youth basketball games for grades 3-8 Enforce league rules and maintain game flow Promote fair play and positive competition Communicate clearly with coaches, players, and spectators Arrive on time and prepared for each scheduled game Report any incidents to league coordinators You'd Be a
Great Fit If You:
Basic understanding of basketball rules and gameplay Attend staff training/meetings Strong communication and decision-making skills Ability to remain calm and impartial under pressure Reliable transportation to game locations Hours of availability on Saturdays 7:30am-3:00pm Preferred (but not required): Prior experience playing or officiating basketball Interest in youth development or coaching
