The Field Manager plays a vital role in maintaining a safe, organized, and positive environment on game days. Acting as the main point of contact on-site, this person supports referees, coaches, and families by managing procedural disputes, handling issues, and ensuring smooth operations. The Field Manager also supports referee development and may play an active role in pre-season preparations. This role specifically requires a medical professional to help players, spectators, and fans who may need medical help and guidance at the games.
Key Responsibilities:
Lead on-site response to player injuries, unruly behavior, and procedural disputes (not judgment calls)
Maintain up-to-date knowledge of league rules to make final procedural decisions and report significant issues to league managers
Deliver pre-game pep talks and guide referees, especially during high-pressure situations like playoff overtime games
Assist with referee training and build positive relationships with coaches before the season starts
Observe and document referee performance to identify strengths and areas for improvement
Foster trust and provide ongoing support to referees for their success
Qualifications:
Strong leadership and communication skills Must have a medical background. EMT with flag football experience preferred.
Committed to understanding and continually learning the rules of the game
Calm under pressure and able to resolve conflict professionally
Comfortable leading and giving feedback to both adults and youth
Reliable, punctual, and committed to a positive game-day atmosphere
Strong experience in officiating flag football or football is required
Good with kids and passionate about creating a safe, fun environment
