Job Description

Overview Viracore LLC is building an officiating team for youth basketball in Chesapeake, VA, covering boys and girls ages 5-16 for the January-March 2027 season. We're looking for one experienced, certified official to lead our officiating side: bring together a crew of reliable refs and make sure every game is covered and called right. Our team has years of experience running youth sports leagues and tournaments, and we know what refs need to do their best work. Responsibilities Recruit and build a crew of certified basketball officials from your network in Hampton Roads. Make sure every game has the required 1 or 2 officials. Cover or find replacements when an official can't make it, especially on busy Saturdays. Make sure officials arrive at least 10 minutes before game time in a full official's uniform. Officiate games yourself according to VHSL rules and league rules. Make sure scorecards are completed for every game and ejection or incident reports are filed when needed. Lead a preseason rules session for volunteer coaches when requested. Mentor newer officials and keep calls consistent across age groups. Make sure no official works a game involving their own family member, or a league where they coach or volunteer. Serve as our go-to contact for game-day officiating issues. Requirements Current basketball officiating certification from a national or Virginia statewide organization (e.g., VHSL-registered). Solid experience officiating basketball, including youth games. Strong connections in the Hampton Roads officiating community. Willingness to complete a national criminal background check, plus clearance against the Virginia Child Abuse and Neglect Registry and the national sex offender registry. This applies to all officials on the crew. Reliable, organized, and a clear communicator with refs, coaches, and parents. Available weeknight evenings and Saturdays, January-March 2027. Why Work With Us Lead your own crew. You help pick the refs you trust. Steady winter games for you and your crew. Paid per game , with additional compensation for the lead role. Paid on time. Room to grow. We're building across Hampton Roads.
