Job Description

Basic Function:
Under the direction of the Director of Career and Technical Education, plan, develop, and deliver lessons to instruct and assess secondary students in Business pathway classes as part of a sequenced program of study. Operate and maintain computers and technical equipment, promote safety and career-ready practices, and prepare students for post-secondary success. Instructor will develop, deliver, and revise course outlines, lesson plans, and assessments that are rigorous, relevant, and aligned to standards. Instruction will include course work in Fundamentals of Business (UC) and Business Management Virtual Enterprise (UC). Classes will incorporate collaborative problem-solving to apply knowledge and skills to real-world challenges. The instructor will also teach workplace skills, present opportunities related to careers in business, and prepare students for industry certifications, internships, college, and careers.
Typical Responsibilities:
Develop and deliver project-based, experiential lessons to teach skills required for student mastery of course competencies. Provide group and individualized instruction that applies effective teaching strategies and utilizes a variety of technology, classroom materials, and equipment. Scaffold and differentiate instruction to support all students, including English Learners and students with special needs. Manage classroom behavior in a manner conducive to learning. Provide ongoing student evaluations in the form of diagnostic, formative, and summative assessments, both formal and informal. Maintain accurate student records. Collaborate with industry, school, and community partners. Recruit guest speakers from a variety of related occupations. Assist students with career exploration, planning, and training for employment and post-secondary studies.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS
Credential Possess a valid California Single Subject Credential in Business OR a valid California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential authorizing instruction in the Business and Finance industry sector; OR Be eligible to obtain a Preliminary California Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential in the Business and Finance industry sector through a Commission-approved Career Technical Education credential program. Industry Experience Applicants seeking to qualify for the Preliminary Designated Subjects Career Technical Education Teaching Credential must possess at least three years of work experience directly related to the Business and Finance industry sector. At least one year of the required work experience must have been completed within the last three years, or at least two years must have been completed within the last ten years. One year of work experience is defined as a minimum of 1,000 clock hours. Qualifying experience may be full-time or part-time and paid or unpaid. Completion of 48 semester units of undergraduate coursework related to the Business and Finance industry sector may substitute for up to two years of the required work experience. Applicants must possess at least one year of actual, full-time work experience. Final determination of credential eligibility will be made by a California Commission on Teacher Credentialing-approved Career Technical Education credential program sponsor. Education High school diploma or equivalent required.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS
Bachelor's degree or higher in Business or a related field. Recent professional experience with Virtual Enterprise programs. Knowledge of current practices, technologies, and training methods aligned with applicable industry standards. Experience writing, revising, and adapting standards-aligned lesson plans, course outlines, and pacing guides. Ability to organize instructional time and the classroom environment to promote safe and effective teaching and learning. Strong written and verbal communication skills, including the ability to deliver engaging multimedia presentations. Proficiency with standard office, classroom, instructional technology, and industry-related tools and equipment. Commitment to the success of all students through rigorous, supportive, and motivating academic experiences.
Physical Requirements:
Walking, talking, sitting, standing, bending, stooping, hearing, reaching above the shoulders, ability to lift 25 lbs., and visual acuity (including color, depth perception, and field of vision).
COMPENSATION
$65.05-$69.13 per hour. This is a part-time position and is not eligible for district-paid health and welfare benefits. ~~~~~~~ The position may close at any time once a sufficient pool of qualified applicants has been established.
