Job Description

We are looking for a passionate Lead Teacher who believes that teaching young children is not just a job but an opportunity to shape the future. The Role As a Lead Teacher, you will guide the learning experience for children ages 1 to 2 while leading and supporting a classroom team. This role combines creativity, leadership, and compassion as you help children reach important developmental milestones through play, exploration, and intentional learning. You will play a key role in creating a classroom that is structured, nurturing, and full of discovery. What You Will Do Plan and implement a developmentally appropriate curriculum for toddlers Create engaging daily activities that support cognitive, social, emotional, and physical development Lead and mentor assistant teachers and classroom staff Foster a positive classroom culture where children feel safe, valued, and encouraged to explore Maintain a clean, organized, and safe learning environment that meets all Delaware licensing standards Communicate regularly with families about children's growth, progress, and daily experiences Track attendance, progress notes, and classroom documentation Participate in professional development and training opportunities What We Are Looking For We are seeking educators who are: Passionate about early childhood education Patient, energetic, and nurturing Strong communicators with families and team members Organized and dependable leaders in the classroom Committed to creating a positive learning environment for every child Minimum Requirements Applicants must: Be at least 18 years of age Have a high school diploma or equivalent recognized by the Delaware Department of Education Have knowledge of child development and early childhood education best practices Demonstrate strong communication and teamwork skills Understand Delaware state licensing regulations Required Education or Credential Candidates must meet one of the following Delaware licensing qualifications : Option A TECE 1 and TECE 2 Option B Valid Child Development Associate (CDA) credential Option C Delaware Department of Labor Child Care Worker Apprenticeship Program Option D Nine college credits from an accredited college including: 3 credits in Early Childhood Education 3 credits in Child Development 3 credits in Early Childhood Positive Behavior Management Option E Completion of a vocational or technical high school three year Early Childhood program Option F Montessori Infant and Toddler or Early Childhood credential from a MACTE approved training program Option G Associate or Bachelor's degree in Early Childhood Education, Child Development, Elementary Education, Elementary Special Education, or Child Psychology with: Six credits in early childhood or child development Three months supervised student teaching birth through second grade OR Six months experience (500 hours) working with children birth through second grade in a group setting Option H Associate or Bachelor's degree in any major with: Six credits in early childhood or child development Six months experience (500 hours) working with children birth through second grade in a group setting
Note:
Education options A through F require a minimum of twelve months experience (1,000 hours) working with children birth through second grade in a group setting. Supervised experience may reduce this requirement by half.
