Job Description

Plato Academy Schools is seeking an enthusiastic and highly qualified Business Education Teacher to join our instructional team. The ideal candidate will inspire students to develop practical business knowledge, entrepreneurial thinking, financial literacy, technology skills, and the professional competencies needed for future academic and career success. Qualifications Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university. Holds, or is eligible to obtain, a valid Florida Teaching Certificate in Business Education K-12 . Three strong professional references. Experience working in a school or educational setting is preferred. Strong communication, organizational, instructional, and classroom-management skills. Commitment to student achievement, collaboration, and continuous professional growth. Major Function The Business Education Teacher is responsible for guiding and directing students' learning experiences in a supportive, engaging, and academically challenging classroom environment. The teacher develops standards-aligned instruction that builds students' knowledge of business concepts while strengthening critical thinking, collaboration, creativity, communication, and real-world problem-solving skills. Essential Responsibilities Teach age-appropriate business concepts, academic skills, and social competencies to elementary and middle school students. Develop and deliver engaging lessons aligned with Florida standards and the school's approved curriculum. Plan individualized and group instruction based on identified long-range goals, learning objectives, and student needs. Use a variety of instructional strategies, technology tools, and educational materials to motivate and engage students. Encourage creativity, entrepreneurship, financial responsibility, collaboration, and career awareness. Maintain current lesson plans and make them accessible in the designated substitute folder. Follow approved procedures for securing substitute coverage when an absence is necessary. Assess student learning, evaluate achievement, and use results to adjust instruction. Maintain accurate instructional, assessment, attendance, and student records. Apply appropriate classroom-management strategies to create a safe, respectful, and productive learning environment. Apply knowledge of child growth and development when planning instruction and responding to students' needs. Communicate with students, parents and guardians, administrators, and support personnel regarding students' academic and social development. Collaborate with colleagues, support staff, and school administrators to advance student achievement and schoolwide goals. Participate in professional-development opportunities and maintain all required credentials and content-area certifications. Support schoolwide initiatives, programs, and cultural events. Uphold all school policies, procedures, professional expectations, and codes of conduct. Protect students' safety and well-being at all times. Perform other related duties as assigned.
