Job Title:
Faculty (Prison Education Program) Full-Time
GENERAL SUMMARY
: Faculty to teach individuals in Missouri correctional facilities located in Farmington and Bonne Terre, Missouri. Individual will be responsible for teaching Introduction to Windows, Microsoft Word, Excel and PowerPoint in a face-to-face and hybrid format. Additional teaching responsibilities may include teaching courses such as BU225, Computer Apps in Business, face-to-face or through Lantern, and other possible courses as needed. Teaching assignments will be made in collaboration with the Office of the Provost. This is a full-time, benefit eligible position. This position is a project-oriented instructional position with a goal of outcomes-based objectives and certification in all Microsoft products covered - Microsoft Office User Specialists (MOS). In depth coverage of Word, Excel, and PowerPoint will be covered along with document integration between the various software components and the MOS certification objectives. An additional focus is how these products may be used in the business setting. It may include additional teaching responsibilities focused on technology, software and business operations.
PRIMARY DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
: Plan and deliver learning experiences for students to make maximum use of class and lab time. Complete assigned teaching load both using Canvas (Lantern) and from inside the correctional facility. Deliver classroom lectures inside the correctional facility using effective, evidence-based teaching strategies by facilitating student learning through interactive activities, assignments, projects, discussion, and other activities as appropriate for the course. Evaluate student performance. Evaluation of student performance in classroom includes evaluation of assignments and projects, and returning these to students in timely fashion. Identify students requiring academic intervention and refer to appropriate support services Manage all classroom safety and security requirements Manage the testing of students for Certification on Certiport Meet all faculty requirements as outlined in the Faculty Handbook Meet all requirements as outlined by the Missouri Department of Corrections Perform other duties as assigned.
EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE QUALIFICATIONS
: Bachelor's degree required; Master's degree preferred Microsoft User Certifications preferred Microsoft User Specialist Certification preferred Teaching experience preferred Experience with Certiport Exam delivery, proctoring, and the certification process preferred.
