Job Description

Category Schools - General Education Teacher Job Type Contract Inspire and support young learners as a 5th grade math and science educator through a meaningful contract opportunity near Candler, NC. This full-time teaching position offers 30+ hours per week, allowing you to work closely with students during a pivotal year of their academic journey. As part of a dedicated educational team in the Waynesville, NC area, you'll play a key role in fostering a passion for math and science while helping each student reach their fullest potential.
Qualifications:
Current teaching certification in General Education or eligibility to obtain one Experience teaching in an elementary or upper elementary setting, especially 5th grade, preferred Strong knowledge and enthusiasm for math and science curricula Ability to establish a positive, inclusive classroom environment Excellent communication, organizational, and classroom management skills Flexibility, adaptability, and a collaborative mindset
Responsibilities:
Plan and deliver engaging math and science instruction aligned with curriculum standards for 5th graders Develop creative lesson plans that cater to a variety of learning styles and abilities Assess student understanding regularly and adjust instruction as needed Foster an encouraging classroom community that supports academic and social development Collaborate with fellow teachers, school staff, and parents to support student success Maintain accurate records related to attendance, grades, and student progress Participate in team meetings, professional development, and school events This is an excellent opportunity to expand your impact as an educator and contribute to a supportive school culture.
