Job Summary We are seeking a dedicated and highly skilled EMS Academy Instructor to lead our emergency medical training programs. The ideal candidate will possess extensive experience in emergency medicine, teaching, and adult education, with a passion for developing future first responders. As an EMS Academy Instructor, you will be responsible for delivering comprehensive training courses, developing curriculum content, and ensuring that students acquire the essential skills needed to excel in emergency medical services. Essential Functions Participate in the planning, implementation, and evaluation of PCHD educational offerings. Prepare and deliver instruction at PCHD facilities or off-site locations, as needed. Supervise course participants during instructional sessions. Evaluate learner performance, provide feedback, and develop remediation plans as needed. Complete all required administrative tasks related to educational programs, including grade calculation and submission, maintenance of program/course/student records, and preparation of required reports and data. Participate in continuing professional development, training, and certifications as appropriate. Adhere to all PCHD and departmental policies, procedures, and applicable quality and safety standards. Flexibility and a commitment to customer service and student success. Ability to adapt curriculum to meet state regulatory requirements, local needs, and national best practices. Knowledge of adult learning theory and effective instructional methodologies. Demonstrated teaching and facilitation skills in classroom and practical settings. Familiarity with competency-based education. Ability to assess learner progress and provide clear, constructive feedback. Ability to encourage critical thinking and problem-solving among students. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. Ability to maintain accurate, complete educational records. Understanding of EMS education accreditation standards and requirements.

Education and Experience Required:

High School Diploma or equivalent Current Texas certification or licensure as an EMT-Paramedic (EMTP) or EMT-Basic Texas EMS Instructor Certification (or ability to obtain within 90 days of hire) Instructor certification in BLS, ACLS, PHTLS, AMLS, and PALS (or ability to obtain within 6 months of hire) Minimum of three (3) years of EMS experience

Preferred:

Associate's degree in science, Education, Training, Human Resources, or a related field Five (5) years of EMS experience Two (2) years of teaching or instructional experience

$35.00 per hour
