Pink Space Theory was created to help close the gender and race equity and equality gaps in the STEAM community. Pink Space Theory aims to engage, expose, and empower youth, especially girls, with STEAM learning experiences to prepare them for their future career paths and passions. Pink Space Theory energizes students through problem-based hands-on activities that stimulate critical thinking, communication, collaboration, and creativity in the Washington DC Metro area.
A Unique Opportunity:
Do you have a passion for technology, coding and AI? Do you want to inspire and teach the next generation? Pink Space Theory is seeking energetic, engaging Coding Instructors to teach elementary and middle school students coding, robotics, and introductory artificial intelligence concepts using Sphero BOLT and other hands-on technology. Coding Instructors will work up to 20 hours a month, including some evenings and weekends, teaching technology in after-school programs, workshops, and special events. This opportunity may be a strong fit for technology professionals, educators, or other skilled individuals who enjoy helping young people learn through creating, experimenting, problem-solving, and discovery. Responsibilities Plan, design, and prepare engaging, inquiry-based lessons in coding, robotics, and introductory AI. Teach coding programs at designated locations in Prince William County and Fairfax County, Virginia. Facilitate hands-on learning using Sphero BOLT and other age-appropriate technology. Create a safe, supportive, inclusive, and collaborative learning environment. Adapt lessons and activities based on student interests, skill levels, and learning needs. Encourage students to experiment, problem-solve, collaborate, and build confidence with technology. Support the evaluation of program activities and help measure student learning and program outcomes. Assist with occasional weekend workshops, community events, or special programs. Qualifications Enthusiastic about teaching coding, robotics, and technology to young people. Minimum of three years of experience working with children or youth. Experience with coding, computer science, robotics, STEM education, or a related field preferred. Experience with Sphero BOLT or similar platform, block-based coding, or text-based programming is a plus. Comfortable learning and teaching introductory AI concepts and emerging technologies. Self-motivated, dependable, and able to work independently while contributing as part of a team. Strong communication and presentation skills with the ability to adapt to different ages and audiences. First Aid and CPR certification preferred or willingness to obtain certification. Must be over the age of 18 years of age to apply and have reliable transportation.
Compensation:
