Job Description

Part-Time Early Childhood Teacher Job Summary We are seeking a dependable and enthusiastic Part-Time "Floater" Early Childhood Teacher to support our early childhood classrooms. The Floater Teacher will work alongside lead teachers to implement planned activities, support daily routines, and provide flexible classroom coverage as needed. The ideal candidate enjoys working with young children, is comfortable working across different classrooms and age groups, and can adapt quickly to changing needs. This position does not require independent lesson planning; the Floater Teacher will primarily implement classroom plans and provide hands-on support to children and teachers . Duties Implement developmentally appropriate activities based on classroom lesson plans. Support learning in language and literacy, math, science, art, music, movement, and play. Encourage children's social-emotional development, independence, cooperation, and positive behavior. Assist lead teachers with small groups, centers, transitions, meals, outdoor play, rest time, and other daily routines. Provide classroom coverage and support across age groups as needed. Support children with individual developmental, behavioral, or learning needs. Communicate observations and concerns to lead teachers and administration. Maintain a safe, welcoming, and engaging learning environment. Daily Responsibilities / Essential Functions Ensure the safety and well-being of children at all times. Actively supervise children in classrooms, playgrounds, and common areas. Assist with toileting, diapering, handwashing, meals, dressing, and other personal care routines as appropriate. Build positive, nurturing relationships with children. Support children's emotional and behavioral needs. Help maintain clean, organized, and developmentally appropriate classroom environments. Follow classroom routines, lesson plans, center policies, and teacher direction. Work collaboratively with lead teachers and other staff. Assist with field trips, special activities, and other program needs as assigned. Attend required staff meetings and professional development. Required Skills & Abilities Genuine interest in working with young children. Strong communication and teamwork skills. Patience, compassion, and sensitivity toward children. Ability to work with different age groups and classroom teams. Flexible and adaptable in a busy early childhood environment. Ability to follow lesson plans and classroom routines. Professional, dependable, and responsible. Knowledge of developmentally appropriate practices is preferred. Familiarity with the Creative Curriculum is a plus. Experience & Qualifications Must be 18 years or older. High school diploma or GED required. Previous experience working with young children preferred. Wisconsin Registry Certificate required; we are ideally seeking a candidate at Level 7 or higher, but other applicants will be considered CPR/First Aid and SIDS/Shaken Baby certifications preferred, or willingness to obtain. Must obtain Pediatric First Aid and CPR certification within six months of employment. Familiarity with Wisconsin Model Early Learning Standards and DCF Child Care Rules is a plus This part-time role offers the opportunity to make a meaningful difference in students lives while also providing flexibility to the teacher!
