Job Description

The unique aspect of our business is the mindset of our employees: curious, adventurous, and innovative . P3 consultants take on early responsibilities with clients in management consulting, diverse technology topics, and scalable IT solutions. Make a project your project. Openness for new, innovative, and unconventional approaches; short decision paths; respectful cooperation; and fruitful synergies make us a diverse, unbeatable team and successful company - worldwide.
WHAT YOU'LL DO
As a Tooling Engineer, you will work hands-on in a fast-paced aerospace manufacturing environment, developing tooling solutions that directly support build and production activities. From initial concept through commissioning, you will combine mechanical design expertise with practical manufacturing knowledge to solve technical challenges and help improve safety, quality, cost, and production efficiency. The first assignment is on-site in Florida. Your involvement in the following tasks will vary from project to project, based on both project requirements and your professional strengths: Design, develop, and release CAD models and engineering drawings for manufacturing tooling in accordance with
ASME Y14.5
standards. Develop practical solutions for assembly fixtures, material-handling equipment, rotisseries, test fixtures, structural weldments, environmental chambers, and custom machinery. Manage tooling projects throughout the full lifecycle, from concept and design through vendor selection, procurement, fabrication, inspection, installation, commissioning, and proof testing. Work closely with Manufacturing Engineering, Integration Engineering, component designers, suppliers, and other technical stakeholders. Establish priorities for tooling procurement and fabrication and communicate requirements clearly across the project team. Support repair and rework activities and develop effective solutions for unexpected manufacturing challenges. Perform root-cause analysis for nonconformances and support appropriate corrective actions. Define material-handling and packaging requirements to protect hardware throughout manufacturing and transportation. Apply design-for-manufacturability (DFM) and design-for-assembly (DFA) principles to improve safety, quality, cost, cycle time, reliability, and maintainability.
WHO YOU ARE
You hold a Bachelor's or Master's degree in Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, Aerospace Engineering, or a comparable engineering discipline, or bring equivalent relevant professional experience. You have at least three years of direct manufacturing experience, ideally in a technically demanding production environment. You have practical experience in tooling design, fabrication, and procurement. You are proficient in CAD-based mechanical design and drafting; experience with Creo Parametric and Windchill is highly desirable. You have a strong understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing fundamentals, including GD&T and tolerance stack-up analysis. You can identify relevant load cases, create free-body diagrams, and perform basic engineering calculations for common mechanical failure modes. You understand common manufacturing processes and equipment, such as CNC machining, manual machining, welding, sheet-metal forming, lifting and rigging, assembly, and inspection. Experience with finite element analysis (FEA) is an advantage; experience with ANSYS Workbench Static Structural is particularly relevant. You understand DFM and DFA principles and ideally have experience supporting products from development into production. You work independently, take ownership of technical challenges, and can effectively manage several priorities at the same time. You communicate effectively with engineering, manufacturing, suppliers, and other project stakeholders. You are legally authorized to work in the U.S. You are comfortable with extensive travel (up to 100% of your working time), typically Monday through Friday, generally depending on client and project needs. For the first assignment the on-site location is in Florida.
