Job Description
Job Overview We are seeking a skilled and detail-oriented CAD Technician to join our dynamic team. In this role, you will play a key part in transforming architectural and design concepts into precise technical drawings and 3D models that guide production. Working closely with engineers, designers, and the production team, you will help ensure projects are executed accurately and efficiently from concept through completion. Create detailed 2D and 3D drawings and models based on architectural and design plans. Develop concept drawings from design sketches for client and team approval. Review, revise, and update drawings based on feedback from team members, engineers, or clients. Ensure accuracy and adherence to project specifications, building codes, and industry standards. Maintain organized digital and physical files of all CAD drawings and related documents. Conduct site visits as needed to gather field measurements and data.
Key Responsibilities:
Produce precise CAD drawings and 3D models using SolidWorks, and/or SketchUp. Program and operate CNC machinery to manufacture high-quality wood and millwork components. Prepare detailed internal shop drawings and work closely with the production team to ensure accurate execution. Collaborate with engineers and designers to develop mechanical designs and technical schematics. Assist in assembling complete construction document sets, including plans, sections, and elevations. Perform quality control checks throughout production and installation phases. Maintain accurate documentation of CNC programs, tooling setups, and standard operating procedures.
Qualifications:
Proficiency in SolidWorks or Fusion 360 Solid understanding of mechanical design, drafting principles, and wood component fabrication. Experience in both 2D drafting and 3D modeling. Ability to read and interpret technical drawings, architectural blueprints, and specifications. Excellent attention to detail with strong problem-solving abilities. Effective verbal and written communication skills. Ability to troubleshoot and optimize CNC programs and machining processes.
Requirements:
High school diploma or GED. Ability to lift up to 50 lbs and perform physical tasks related to site visits and material handling. Reliable transportation to job sites and between company locations.
