In this dynamic role, you will support the setup and programming of CNC machining processes, focusing on nesting and CAM (Computer-Aided Manufacturing) operations. Your expertise will help optimize material usage, improve machining efficiency, and ensure high-quality production outputs. This entry-level position offers a fantastic opportunity to develop your skills in CAD/CAM software, CNC programming, and precision measurement within a fast-paced manufacturing environment dedicated to excellence and innovation. Responsibilities Assist in creating and optimizing nesting layouts using CAD software to maximize material utilization for CNC machining projects. Support the development of CAM programs for CNC milling machines, lathes, and 5-axis CNC machines, ensuring accurate toolpath generation. Interpret mechanical blueprints and schematics, applying GD&T (Geometric Dimensioning and Tolerancing) standards to ensure precise manufacturing. Collaborate with engineering teams to review tooling requirements, machine setups, and machining parameters for metal machining processes. Conduct basic measurement and quality control using precision measuring instruments such as calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, and coordinate measuring machines (CMM). Assist in the setup of CNC tooling and machining tools, ensuring proper alignment and calibration for efficient operations. Support continuous improvement initiatives by applying lean manufacturing principles to reduce waste and enhance workflow efficiency. Skills Proficiency with CAD software such as AutoCAD, SolidWorks, or CATIA for design and schematic interpretation. Basic knowledge of CAM software for programming CNC milling machines, CNC lathes, and 5-axis CNC machines. Familiarity with CNC machining processes including programming in engineering contexts and machine tool setup. Understanding of blueprint reading, mechanical blueprint interpretation, and schematics with an emphasis on GD&T standards. Experience or familiarity with CNC tooling selection, geometry considerations, and metal machining techniques. Knowledge of measurement tools including calipers, micrometers, bore gauges, micrometers, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and other precision measurement instruments. Mechanical knowledge combined with an understanding of electrical discharge machining (EDM), CNC programming principles, and CNC lathe/milling operations. Ability to work with engineering drawings to support manufacturing processes while adhering to quality standards. Strong math skills necessary for precision measurement and geometric calculations essential in machining tasks. Exposure to lean manufacturing practices aimed at reducing waste while increasing productivity.
