GPS Field Technician / CAD Drafter

Job Description

Overview We're hiring a GPS/CAD Technician to collect field survey data and turn it into accurate, deliverable-ready drawings. This is primarily a GPS/LiDAR data collection and CAD drafting position, and you'll spend your time gathering coordinates in the field with GPS/GNSS and LiDAR equipment and drafting deliverables in Trimble Business Center. GPR and utility locating work is a secondary skill you'll pick up over time to help fill out your hours when GPS/CAD work is lighter. No prior GPR experience required. Responsibilities
  • Operate
GPS/GNSS
equipment in the field to capture location data on paint-marked utility findings
  • Perform LiDAR scanning in the field and process/register point cloud data
  • Import, process, and clean GPS and LiDAR field data in Trimble Business Center
  • Draft accurate CAD deliverables from field-collected data for client submission
  • Travel regionally (New England/NY) for field work, including occasional overnight trips
  • Coordinate with field crews and office staff to ensure data accuracy and turnaround
  • Learn GPR and utility locating fundamentals over time to support the broader field team as needed Experience
  • Experience with CAD software (Trimble Business Center experience is a strong plus, but general CAD/AutoCAD/Civil 3D background is fine)
  • Comfort with or willingness to learn

  • Willingness to learn LiDAR scanning and point cloud processing; no prior experience needed, we'll train you
  • Valid driver's license and willingness to travel regionally with occasional overnight stays
  • Detail-oriented; accuracy in field data and drafting directly affects our clients' construction decisions
