On-site near Des Moines, Iowa About Aronson Woodworks Aronson Woodworks is an Iowa-based furniture design and manufacturing company specializing in handcrafted solid-wood furniture and our signature CLAIZE® finish. From our shop just south of Des Moines, we work with interior designers and clients across the country to create both collection pieces and highly customized furniture. We're looking for a Furniture CAD & Rendering Designer to join our team and help translate furniture concepts into clear, accurate drawings and beautiful client-facing renderings. SketchUp is a core part of our current design workflow , so strong SketchUp skills — or the ability to become highly proficient in it quickly — are important for this role. We're looking for someone who can confidently handle our day-to-day furniture modeling, renderings and production drawings, but who is also excited to grow with Aronson into a senior design role with increasing ownership over product development and design direction. What You'll Do You'll work closely with our design, sales and production teams to create the drawings and visuals that move a project from concept to the shop floor.

The role includes:

Creating 3D furniture models in SketchUp and producing polished, client-facing renderings Producing accurate production/shop drawings from approved designs Translating sketches, dimensions, specifications and existing furniture designs into clear digital models Making dimension, material and finish revisions Preparing complete drawing packages for our production team Maintaining organized SketchUp files, drawing templates and a rendering/model library Working directly with our shop team to clarify construction details and improve drawings Helping standardize repeatable products and drawing processes Collaborating closely with our owner/designer on unusual or highly custom projects Exploring new rendering and AI-assisted visualization tools as we continue to improve the speed and quality of our design process Taking on increasing design responsibility over time, with the opportunity to grow into a senior design leadership role Initially, the role will focus heavily on independently handling routine modeling, drawings and renderings, while working closely with our design lead on new engineering, structural changes and complex custom-design challenges. As your experience and understanding of our furniture grows, we want this person to take on greater ownership of custom design, product development and eventually design leadership within Aronson. Who We're Looking For We're less concerned with a particular degree than we are with technical ability, visual judgment, curiosity and a willingness to learn how furniture is actually built. A strong candidate will have experience with some combination of: SketchUp — strong proficiency preferred 3D CAD/modeling and rendering software Furniture, product, industrial or interior design Architectural or shop drawings Photorealistic rendering Adobe Photoshop or similar image-editing software Reading dimensions and understanding scale Woodworking, cabinetry, millwork or manufacturing AI-assisted rendering and visualization tools, or an interest in learning and experimenting with emerging design technology You should be detail-oriented, comfortable asking questions when something doesn't make sense, and able to move between the creative and technical sides of a project. We're especially interested in someone who is curious about new tools and technology and enjoys finding better, faster ways to communicate design ideas. This Could Be a Great Fit For A recent industrial design, interior design, architecture or CAD graduate with a strong portfolio; a CAD technician with a good design eye; or someone already working in furniture, cabinetry or millwork who loves the modeling and visualization side of the process. It could also be a great fit for someone who is ready for more than a drafting role and wants the opportunity to grow into a larger design position as the company grows. Compensation & Schedule $25.00-$30.00 per hour Full-time, on-site position at our workshop near Des Moines, Iowa.
