CAD Designer & Permit Coordinator Threshold Decks Rochdale, MA Job Details Full-time $60,000 - $70,000 a year 18 hours ago Benefits Paid time off Parental leave Qualifications AutoCAD Math Attention to detail Organizational skills Managing projects Full Job Description Job Summary Threshold Decks is seeking a Residential CAD & Preconstruction Coordinator to help prepare our projects for construction. The primary responsibilities of this position are creating construction drawings in AutoCAD, preparing material takeoffs, and managing building permit applications. We are looking for someone with AutoCAD experience and a general understanding of residential construction. Previous deck-specific experience is not required. Someone with experience in residential drafting, architecture, remodeling, framing, additions, or similar construction would be a strong fit. We can teach the right candidate our specific deck, porch, and screened room construction methods and standards. Responsibilities Create residential construction and permit drawings using AutoCAD Prepare plans for decks, porches, screened rooms, stairs, railings, framing, footings, and related structures Turn field measurements, project specifications, and site information into accurate construction drawings Prepare material takeoffs from approved plans Calculate quantities for framing, decking, railings, hardware, and other project materials Prepare and submit building permit applications Assemble permit packages including drawings, plot plans, engineering documents, and supporting information Communicate with local building departments regarding permit requirements and approvals Make drawing revisions as needed Read and interpret surveys, plot plans, engineering plans, and construction documents Assist with reviewing projects for applicable residential building code requirements Track permits and maintain organized project documentation Coordinate with our project management and production teams to ensure projects are ready for construction Qualifications Experience with AutoCAD or similar CAD software General understanding of residential construction and framing Ability to read measurements and translate them into accurate drawings Strong math and measurement skills Ability to read construction plans, surveys, or similar documents Strong attention to detail and organizational skills Comfortable learning residential building codes and permitting requirements Ability to manage multiple projects at the same time Strong written and verbal communication skills Preferred, But Not Required Experience creating residential construction drawings Experience with decks, porches, additions, remodeling, or framing Experience preparing material takeoffs Familiarity with building permits or municipal building departments Familiarity with residential building codes What We're Looking For You do not need to be a deck expert on day one. We are looking for someone who is comfortable with CAD, understands the basics of residential construction, is detail oriented, and is willing to learn. The right person will be trained on our deck, porch, and screened room construction standards and will eventually be able to take projects through CAD drawings, material takeoffs, permitting, revisions, and final preparation for construction.
Pay:
$60,000.00 - $70,000.00 per year
