Job Summary We are seeking a skilled AutoCAD / Autodesk Inventor Designer to support the design and development of custom products, machinery, components, prototypes, and equipment solutions. The ideal candidate will have strong 2D and 3D CAD design skills and the ability to take projects from initial concept through detailed design, prototyping, manufacturing, and final production. Working within a company with more than 25 years of experience in product design and manufacturing, this position will collaborate closely with engineering, manufacturing, and customers to develop practical, cost-effective designs for custom machinery, small production runs, equipment modifications, prototypes, and 3D-printed components. Essential Duties & Responsibilities Create detailed 2D drawings and 3D models using AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor. Develop mechanical designs for custom machinery, equipment, components, fixtures, tooling, and assemblies. Translate customer concepts, sketches, specifications, and ideas into accurate CAD designs. Create detailed part drawings, assembly drawings, layouts, and manufacturing documentation. Develop and modify 3D models, assemblies, and prototypes using Autodesk Inventor. Prepare designs for manufacturing, machining, fabrication, assembly, and 3D printing. Make design modifications and equipment upgrades based on customer requirements. Work with manufacturing personnel to ensure designs are practical and manufacturable. Review existing components and equipment and develop improved or replacement designs. Produce accurate dimensions, tolerances, material specifications, and other technical information for manufacturing. Assist with prototype development and make design changes based on testing and production feedback. Create bills of materials (BOMs), part lists, and other engineering documentation as needed. Maintain organized CAD files, drawings, revisions, and project documentation. Participate in design reviews and troubleshoot design or manufacturing issues. Communicate with customers and internal teams regarding project requirements, design changes, and production needs. Support projects from initial concept through design, prototype, manufacturing, and final delivery . Assist with 3D printing and rapid prototyping projects when needed. Ensure designs meet project specifications, quality requirements, and applicable manufacturing standards. Required Qualifications 8+ experience as a CAD Designer, Mechanical Designer, Drafter, Product Designer, or similar role . Strong working knowledge of AutoCAD and Autodesk Inventor . Experience creating both 2D drawings and 3D mechanical models. Ability to interpret engineering drawings, sketches, measurements, and technical specifications. Understanding of mechanical design and manufacturing processes. Ability to design parts and assemblies with manufacturing and fabrication requirements in mind. Strong attention to detail and accuracy. Ability to manage multiple projects and meet deadlines. Strong problem-solving and communication skills. Preferred Qualifications Experience designing custom machinery or automated equipment . Experience with machining, welding, fabrication, or sheet-metal design. Experience with 3D printing, rapid prototyping, and prototype development . Experience designing fixtures, tooling, jigs, and production equipment. Knowledge of GD&T, tolerancing, and material selection. Experience working directly with customers to develop custom solutions. Familiarity with CNC machining and manufacturing processes. Experience taking a product from initial concept through prototype and production. Education & Experience An associate or bachelor's degree in Mechanical Design, Engineering Technology, CAD Design, Drafting, Manufacturing Technology , or a related field is preferred. Equivalent professional experience in mechanical design and manufacturing will also be considered.
