Onsite Job Description The Battery Cell Process Engineer will support the fabrication and prototyping of next-generation battery cells for high-energy applications. This role will work closely with senior process and cell design engineers to operate pilot-line equipment, build pouch cells, optimize manufacturing parameters, and maintain high-quality, repeatable experimental builds. Responsibilities Perform end-to-end pouch cell fabrication , including slurry mixing, electrode coating, calendering, slitting/die cutting, stacking, tab welding, pouch sealing, electrolyte filling, and formation. Operate, calibrate, and maintain pilot-line equipment, dry rooms, glove boxes, and tooling . Execute Design of Experiments (DOE) to optimize process parameters, cell yield, uniformity, and energy density. Conduct in-process quality inspections including thickness, loading density, alignment, and seal integrity checks. Record fabrication data, process metrics, and test results in tracking databases. Troubleshoot defects such as coating pinholes, delamination, stacking misalignment, and poor electrolyte wetting. Work with senior engineers to identify root causes and implement corrective actions. Create and maintain SOPs, assembly traveler documentation, process records, and safety procedures . Follow laboratory, dry-room, cleanroom, and hazardous-material handling procedures. Required Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Materials Science, Chemical Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, Electrical Engineering , or equivalent practical experience. 1+ year of hands-on experience with lab-scale pilot-line equipment and pouch cell fabrication. Experience working in a laboratory, cleanroom, or dry-room environment with battery materials and chemicals. Knowledge of lithium-ion cell manufacturing processes , including slurry preparation, electrode coating, calendering, stacking, electrolyte filling, and sealing. Strong attention to detail, documentation, troubleshooting, and laboratory safety. Preferred Qualifications Experience with pouch cell fabrication equipment , tab welding, electrolyte filling, and sealing systems. Knowledge of SPC, yield analysis, and process optimization . Experience with Python, MATLAB, JMP, or Excel for data analysis. Understanding of how upstream manufacturing variations affect cell quality and electrochemical performance .
Pay:
$45.00 - $50.00 per hour Expected hours: 40.0 per week
