Job Description

Position Overview The Service & Process Engineer is responsible for the day-to-day engineering support services associated with the Engine Services divisions. This role provides direct technical services and leadership to all members of the Engine Services divisions and is held accountable to the compliance requirements of our regulatory bodies, customers, and third-party registrars. The ideal candidate is well versed in test cell operations, gas turbine operations, repair and assembly processes, possesses significant problem-solving skills and can shift priorities rapidly. While not a responsibility specifically associated to any individual task, all aspects of this role will be accomplished with continuous improvement, and efforts to increase safety standards at their forefront. This position is responsible for operations in both Canada and the US, so frequent travel is required in this role. Key Responsibilities Service & Production Engineering support of Engine Service Operation for all Locations Provide day-to-day technical support to production for assigned products and processes. Create and maintain standard operational routing documents Perform scope definition tasks associated with in process issues, repair requests, non- standard inspections, and warranty investigation Performance of warranty / non-standard investigations including associated reporting and evaluation, this includes direct customer contact as necessary Perform process-based trouble shooting and corrective actions in support of operational goals System Improvements & Process Development Liaises with manufacturers to resolve technical problems Improve quality, efficiency, and turn times through the development and improvement of systems and repair processes Development and implementation of new product repair processes based on manufacturer data Coordinate with, Operations, and vendors to ensure compliance with safety and regulatory requirements. Carries out special projects as assigned. Skills & Qualifications Successful completion of Mechanical or Aerospace engineering degree or Mechanical Engineering Technologist Diploma, or experience in a progressively more responsible role in an aviation associated engineering field Experience in progressively more responsible roles in a quality system-controlled organization is considered an asset Possess an understanding of gas turbine engines, their operation, and control systems Accurately use a multitude of precision measuring tools Functional knowledge of special processes (welding, NDT, electroplating, metallizing, painting, non-structural bonding) Functional Knowledge of machining processes (lathe, grind, mill, and manual tools) Competencies Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications Excellent written and verbal communication skills Ability to work and make decisions independently Interpretation of engineering drawings and industry standards Ability to effectively lead a team by completing organizational goals Ethical application of quality principles committed to quality and product safety, willing to report issues regardless of magnitudes or offending party (including themselves) Ability to lead and foster a culture in line with the organization s core values Work environment A mix between manufacturing, chemical processing and office setting, with requirements to work on the shop floor where PPE (safety glasses, work boots and hearing protection) are required Exposure to chemical odors is a possibility Exposure to loud noises frequently Physical requirements Frequently moves/lifts/carries materials weighing up to 50 pounds Must be able to sit or stand for extended periods of time (exceeding 4 consecutive hours) Visual acuity requirements specified in organizations policies must be met Must have ability to travel to, and operate a motor vehicle in the USA Must be able to read, write, hear, and understand English Must be able to climb, stand, stoop, walk, sit, and type Work Schedule Monday - Friday 6am - 2:30pm Will need to pass a DOT pre-employment drug screen. Will participate in a random drug and alcohol program as required by FAA. $73,477.82 - $88,489.41 per year
