Chemical Process Engineer Precision Cleaning

Job Description

We are seeking a hands-on Chemical Process Engineer - Precision Cleaning to support and maintain a high-purity precision cleaning operation serving the semiconductor manufacturing industry. This position will be responsible for technical ownership, control, troubleshooting, and continuous improvement of chemical cleaning processes used on precision-manufactured components. The ideal candidate will have a strong understanding of chemical process control, contamination prevention, material compatibility, DI water systems, cleanroom operations, and process qualifications. This is a hands-on manufacturing position requiring regular interaction with production, quality, maintenance, engineering, and customer requirements. Key Responsibilities Provide technical ownership and day-to-day support of multi-stage precision chemical cleaning processes. Monitor and control bath chemistry, including concentration, pH, temperature, contamination levels, bath life, and replenishment requirements. Establish and maintain operating parameters, control limits, sampling frequencies, and reaction plans for chemical processes. Develop methods for determining chemical bath life and appropriate change-out intervals based on process performance and analytical data. Monitor DI water and rinse-system performance, including resistivity/conductivity, filtration, water quality, and rinse effectiveness. Troubleshoot chemical cleaning, rinsing, drying, staining, corrosion, residue, particle, and contamination issues. Analyze cleanliness results and identify trends related to particulate, ionic, organic, and metallic contamination. Lead root-cause investigations and corrective actions for cleaning-process failures and customer concerns. Develop and maintain process specifications, work instructions, chemical control plans, inspection requirements, and other controlled documentation. Support customer process qualifications, audits, technical reviews, and continuous-improvement initiatives. Support cleanroom contamination-control practices and continuous improvement of cleanroom processes. Provide technical training and guidance to operators responsible for chemical cleaning processes. Work with EHS personnel to ensure safe chemical handling, storage, PPE, ventilation, spill response, and waste-management practices. Minimum Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Chemical Engineering or Chemistry . Minimum 3 years of experience supporting chemical processing, precision cleaning, surface treatment, semiconductor manufacturing, aerospace manufacturing, medical devices, or another high-purity manufacturing environment. Strong understanding of chemical concentration, pH, temperature control, contamination, bath life, and process stability. Experience developing, maintaining, or improving controlled manufacturing processes. Ability to analyze manufacturing and laboratory data and make data-driven process decisions. Strong technical writing and documentation skills. Ability and willingness to work directly on the manufacturing floor and within cleanroom environments. Preferred Qualifications Experience in semiconductor precision cleaning or semiconductor equipment manufacturing. Experience supporting customer-specific semiconductor cleanliness requirements. Knowledge of high-purity DI water systems and rinse processes. Experience with wet-bench or multi-tank chemical cleaning systems. Knowledge of cleanroom contamination-control practices. Experience with chemical processing of aluminum components. Experience with acid-based cleaning and passivation processes. Experience with process qualification and validation in a highly controlled manufacturing environment. Experience working within ISO 9001, AS9100, semiconductor, or comparable quality-management systems.
