Aerospace / Advanced Manufacturing About the Opportunity Our client is a global engineering and manufacturing solutions company supporting the aerospace, energy, and defense industries. The organization specializes in advanced aftermarket solutions, including the manufacturing, repair, and refurbishment of critical turbine components used in aircraft engines and industrial gas turbines. We are seeking an Air Plasma Spray (APS) Process Engineer to join the engineering team in Carson City, Nevada and play a key role in developing, optimizing, and supporting advanced coating processes. Relocation assistance is available for qualified candidates , making this an excellent opportunity for engineers interested in relocating to the Carson City/Reno area. This position is ideal for an engineer with experience in aerospace manufacturing, gas turbine components, thermal spray/coating technologies, robotics, or process engineering who wants to work with advanced manufacturing technologies and take ownership of meaningful engineering projects. Key Responsibilities Develop, optimize, and maintain Air Plasma Spray (APS) coating processes for aerospace and industrial gas turbine components. Drive improvements in process capability, quality, productivity, and overall manufacturing performance. Develop new APS coating programs, including robotic programming, tooling, process development, and qualification . Program and optimize robotic coating systems; FANUC experience is highly preferred . Lead equipment upgrades, capital projects, and continuous improvement initiatives from concept through implementation. Support New Product Introduction (NPI) and process development activities. Take ownership of assigned components and manufacturing processes from initial concept through production. Troubleshoot technical and manufacturing issues, perform root-cause analysis, implement corrective actions, and monitor results. Collaborate with engineering, manufacturing, quality, and other cross-functional teams to develop solutions that meet cost, performance, quality, and durability requirements. Develop and maintain technical documentation, specifications, procedures, and engineering reports. Present technical findings and project updates to internal and external stakeholders. Provide technical guidance and mentorship to less experienced engineers and technical personnel. Support occasional travel as required. Qualifications Bachelor's degree in Mechanical Engineering, Aerospace Engineering, or a related engineering discipline . 2+ years of engineering experience within aerospace, gas turbine, advanced manufacturing, or a related industry. Experience with coating technologies , thermal spray, or Air Plasma Spray is preferred. Experience with CMMs, white-light scanning, laser scanning, gages, or other dimensional measurement equipment . Experience with robotic programming and optimization ; FANUC experience preferred. Knowledge of gas turbine manufacturing processes is a plus. Experience with 3D CAD modeling . Familiarity with Finite Element Analysis (FEA) is preferred. Knowledge of metallurgical laboratory methods is a plus. Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation . Familiarity with FAA PMA and RS-DER requirements is preferred. Strong analytical, problem-solving, project management, and communication skills. Ability to work effectively in a collaborative, cross-functional engineering environment.
