Van Wert, Ohio Summary of Responsibilities The Process Engineer will drive Lean focused process and quality improvements throughout the production operations. This role will collaborate with design engineering, production, quality assurance, and subject matter experts to determine best practices, process documentation, training, and quality focused improvements. The Process Engineer will facilitate and lead dynamic team driven projects to build capable and robust products and processes while assisting in the development of a highly skilled and empowered workforce. Summary of Activities Responsibilities Activities Process Improvements
  • Drive Lean focused initiatives and production system development
  • Lead and facilitate Lean initiatives, projects, and kaizen
  • Identify, develop and implement robust safety, quality and process improvements
  • Develop and implement error proofing techniques, devices and process controls Communication
  • Identify, communicate, and eliminate bottlenecks to maximize production capacities.
  • Develop process documentation including one-point lessons, visual aids, work instructions and training.
  • Coordinate and facilitate process improvements with manufacturing leadership and personnel Operations
  • Support successful launch of new products, processes, materials and process improvements
  • Collect, interpret and act upon data from technical and manufacturing sources.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.
Leadership Promote and drive collaboration and teamwork to achieve objectives Technical Skills/Competencies (Technical Knowledge, Education and Experience) Degree in Industrial or Mechanical Engineering preferred, or other relevant degree and/or experience 5 or more years of work experience in a manufacturing environment functioning as a Process and/or Continuous Improvement Engineer including experience as a co-op and/or intern Knowledge and direct application of Continuous Improvement methodologies and tools, i.e. Lean, PDCA, 6 Sigma and TOC, and proven track record thereof. Knowledgeable in computer skills (CAD systems, Microsoft software, Internet and email) Personality Traits / Core Skills Excellent presentation, verbal, and written communication skills Ability to lead and work in a cross-functional and collaborative team environment Self motivated, hands-on individual able to quickly learn and apply new skills Strong ability to follow written/verbal instructions and meet deadlines with minimal supervision Essential Functions/Physical Requirements Complete all work as detailed in this job specification at acceptable productivity and quality levels with or without reasonable accommodation. Must be able to access and navigate each department and/or facility Must be able to communicate effectively orally and in writing with individuals and in front of groups. Must be able to enter and access computerized data Occasionally required to crouch and kneel Occasionally, must be able to move or transport up to 15 pounds of work-related materials. Must demonstrate reasonable and reliable attendance Must maintain any required licensures and/or certifications Successfully pass a post-offer drug test as well as random, reasonable suspicion and post-accident drug and alcohol tests as required
